On average the brain is exposed to 2,000,000 bits of information per second. Yes that's right 2 mil. !
Through a number of internal filters we absorb and digest only 7 (plus or minus 2 pieces) of this information at any one time. I.e. you may not hear the clock ticking or the birds singing outside while you concentrate on a specific task. The brain only selects and works with the information required at the time. Our filters are our internal map of reality and how we react/respond or feel to the information. It shows in our Physiology - Facial expressions; stance; posture and our behaviour.
Depending on your own unique personal filters depends on your reaction - which is often different to other's reactions to the same information. Your filters are created throughout your life based on experiences, information you believe to be correct, your values, your attitudes, past memories and previous decisions made. Also the style of Language used as to whether or now you relate to the information presented to you.
